To achieve optimal health for your body start fuelling it with organic and natural foods. Processed foods that you can find in Supermarkets can be full of toxic chemicals, that could be having a negative impact on your body. We’ve decided to explore the reasons why we should be eating Organic food and what advantages it has!
What is Organic Food?
The Department for Agriculture and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) states that:
‘Organic food is the product of a farming system which avoids the use of man-made fertilisers, pesticides; growth regulators and livestock feed additives. Irradiation and the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or products produced from or by GMOs are generally prohibited by organic legislation.
Organic agriculture is a systems approach to production that is working towards environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production. Instead, the agricultural systems rely on crop rotation, animal and plant manures, some hand weeding and biological pest control’.
Reduce toxins in your body. A lot of non-organic food contains pesticides, herbicides and GMOs, which in their nature are very toxic. Most conventionally raised livestock are fed corn, which of 90% is GMO. Their food is full of hormones and antibiotics, these then make their way into our food products and eventually into our bodies. By opting for organic foods will reduce this pesticide buildup. Test cleansing your body and bring in organic food as much as possible into your diet.
Good for the Earth Organic farming reduces soil and water pollution since organic food production strictly avoids the use of all synthetic chemicals, unlike conventional farming which uses lots of artificial pesticides.
Nutritious crops A recent study reveals that organic foods are richer in nutrients and antioxidants and lower in heavy metals, especially cadmium, and pesticides. Organic foods are more nutritious and won't deplete your health by putting unwanted and unnecessary toxins in your body.
Avoids GMO products Genetically modified organisms(GMO) is what's used to make produce grow faster, bigger, resistant to weather or even form its very own form of pesticide. However, GMO food is lower-nutrient, more toxic and can even cause allergies for those who consume it.
Organic food burns fat faster Fat burning compounds are 12% higher in organic food than conventional crops. Because of this, researchers at *Newcastle University say that organic food could make you live longer thanks to the “weight loss or lack of weight gain” which corresponds to eating organically.
We know it may be daunting eating 100% organic or it might not be available in your budget, but if that's the case start small and switch over one food at a time to start building up your organic lifestyle.
